My name is Andrea Garcia and I am from Middlesex, a small town in central New Jersey. Currently I'm a freshman at Rider University. I am double majoring in Secondary Education and English, with a concentration in writing. I am in the Baccalaureate Honors Program here at Rider, and last semester I made the Deans’ List with a GPA of 3.52. My good academic standing has also earned me a place in Alpha Lambda Delta, Rider's Honor Society.
I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl. After I graduate from Rider I plan to get a job as a high school English teacher. I have been involved with teaching experiences since my freshman year of high school. In high school I Child Development and Child Care Professional and in both classes we observed and taught children between the ages of 3 and 5. My senior year of high school, I worked as a teacher's aide at My Very Own School, a preschool in my town. There I did everything from teaching and playing with the kids, to planning out projects, to cleaning the tables after the kids were done coloring. I also worked at the Middlesex Summer Camp last summer. There, I was a camp aide, which meant I supervised children between the ages of 5 and 13, and engaged them in recreational as well as arts and crafts activities.
Although most of my teaching experience has been with young children, I want to teach older students. I think the skills and qualities I have developed while caring for younger children will definitely help me run a high school class. In high school I was involved in Student Council, Honor Society, Varsity Softball, and the school Newspaper. Now at Rider I am a member of the Student Education Association, Gay Straight Alliance, the Food Committees, Emerging Leaders, and I participate in various community service activities on campus.

Andrea,
I thought you had a good presentation. I liked the way you introduced yourself. It was in a friendly manner and this made the students attractive to your speech. You seemed optimistic and enthusiastic throughout your speech as well which your presentation enjoyable. The fact that you genuinely love teaching kids is believable because of the way you spoke in class. One thing you should work on, is to speak a slower. You were speaking a bit too fast throughout most of your speech and although I could understand what you were saying, it was hard to follow your statements a few times. Also, I would recommend that you add a video of one of your speeches that you presented in our class so that viewers that look at your blog are more inclined to believe that you are capable of speaking in front of the class room. One of your great strengths was that you spoke about your experience working with kids which makes the idea of you being a high school English teacher very believable. Your resume was well detailed and your pictures on your blog look fantastic. Overall, job well done!
Yes akash is right. You introduced yourself very well Andrea.
Teaching is really good profile for career point of view.
Thanks for share.
